Below are a list of our most frequently asked questions. If you have any further enquiries that are not listed below send us an email.


Ideally, at least one person in your life should know what you are planning to do, and where you are going. This will be important for your integration process. It could be a friend, a family member, a partner, your therapist. We will not contact this person without your consent, except in the very unlikely case of an emergency.
Once you have booked on to a retreat, you will be added to a private platform where you can interact with the facilitators and participants of your specific retreat. We will coordinate logistics, share podcasts, suggested readings, videos and other tips on how to prepare for your experience, as well as suggesting what to bring etc. This group will remain active after the retreat so participants can stay in touch afterward.
Transfer Policy
You can transfer your ticket from one retreat to another by emailing the lead facilitator directly with the information of which retreat you want to transfer to.
If you choose to transfer your ticket up to 6 weeks before the retreat, the transfer fee is £50.
If you choose to transfer your ticket between 3-6 weeks before the retreat, the transfer fee is £150.
You cannot transfer your ticket if the retreat you have booked on to is 3 weeks away or less and will be required to cancel your ticket.

Cancellation Policy
You can cancel your retreat ticket by emailing the lead facilitator directly with the information of which retreat you are cancelling.
If you need to cancel your ticket up to 6 weeks before the retreat, you can get a full refund minus the cancellation fee of £150.
If you need to cancel your ticket between 3-6 weeks before the retreat, you will get a 50% ticket refund.
If you need to cancel within 3 weeks before the retreat, you will receive no refund for your ticket. We thank you for your understanding.
It is not possible for participants to come to the retreat late of leave early. It’s essential to commit to taking the time to be in the process with the rest of the group for the entire retreat. Moreover, we strongly recommend taking a day or more off work following the retreat to give yourself more time to rest and integrate the experience. The time afterwards is as important as the ceremony itself.
If you are not eligible for an Experience Retreat, there are other options you could consider:

  • Contact Imperial College London, Compass Pathways or Kings College who are all running clinical trials with psilocybin.
  • There are incredibly powerful group therapeutic processes (not like conventional therapy!). We are big fans of The Path Of Love, for example.
  • Explore using other methods to altered states of consciousness such as Holotropic Breathwork
  • Get in touch with your local Psychedelic Society and connect with the community.
We have many suggestions to help you integrate the psychedelic experience. On the retreat itself, we dedicate a full day and a half explicitly to integration. We hold individual check-ins with each participant the day after the journey and explore a range of practices such as bodywork, breathwork, journaling, creative expression, nature immersion, authentic relating and sharing circles, all focusing on bringing back the psychedelic lessons into your daily life.

Post retreat, we will provide you with a list of suggested readings, videos, podcasts and regular practices to help you maintain and deepen the insights from your journey. Two weeks after the retreat we hold a group video call, which is a very powerful way for participants to reconnect with the experience and each other, to share how the initial integration process has gone. The retreat participants are also connected via a private online platform (as well as Whatsapp) where they can stay in touch with each other (and many do still even a year later!).

We also hold many events for the psychedelic community in the UK (and support international participants to seek out potential psychedelic groups in their respective countries) as being connected to a community who understands these journeys can be very beneficial in the integration process (and for life in general!). Finally, for those who desire a more in-depth exploration of any topics that came up during the journey, we also offer 1-to-1 integration sessions with the facilitators, which can be purchased on the event page.
On 4 day retreats, the arrival evening is focused on preparation and group connection. The first full day (ie day two) is geared around the ceremony and taking the truffles, and the second full day (ie day three) is intended to support the integration of your experience through a range of 1-2-1, group and solo activities, taking place indoors and outside, engaging mind, body and soul. On 5 day retreats, you have a full extra day before the ceremony, which is intended to support you to prepare for the psychedelic experience with a range of activities designed for you to arrive, connect with the group and feel more prepared for the experience. The following days are the same as described for the 4 day retreat (ie ceremony day and integration day).

Health and safety

Truffles are have incredibly low toxicity, even lower than alcohol, and are therefore safe to ingest. There are certain physical conditions and medications, which can be a contraindication however, so it is of utmost importance that you tell us in your application form of any medication you are on as well as any health conditions.

It is possible to feel unsettled in the stomach or nauseous after ingesting the truffles, particularly in the first hour of the experience. This phase is sometimes called psychedelic turbulence, as it is similar to the lift off on a plane. As the plane is taking off, it can be a bit shaky, but this generally fades once you have reached a certain altitude. Similar with the psychedelic experience, the onset can be a bit wobbly, and be accompanied by nausea, but this generally fades once you have fully entered the ‘trip’. It has a lot to do with nerves as your normal egoic state transitions into the psychedelic state of mind.

Having transitioned into the “psychedelic state”, doesn’t mean it will be “smooth sailing or flying” from then on, but the physical discomfort will generally have faded. You might still encounter challenging experiences, but our facilitators will have prepared you for this and are well trained to support you through such an experience so that it may even turn out to be one of learning and growth.

Unlike with ayahuasca for example, where purging can be a common aspect of the journey, this generally is not the case with truffles. Nonetheless, very occasionally participants will feel so nauseous that they have to vomit. There is nothing bad about that and our facilitators are trained to support you.
While we know the need is very acute, at this point we are not in a position to offer psychedelic psychotherapy. In our group retreats, we cannot offer one-on-one support like in clinical trials. If you suffer from more severe mental health issues, you might require a level of assistance we are not able to offer you in a group setting. Please know that this is for your own safety and wellbeing, as well as the group’s.

If you are taking SSRI medication you are not a suitable candidate for our retreats. SSRIs work on the same receptors in the brain that psilocybin works on, therefore these receptors are blocked by SSRIs, and the psilocybin will not have as powerful an effect. You would need a much higher dose of psilocybin than usual, and we feel it is not good practice to start a guessing game when it comes to dosage. If you are in coming off SSRI medication in consultation with your doctor, feel free to contact us and apply for a retreat after 6 months of being medication free.

We cannot accept those who suffer from a history of psychotic or bipolar conditions, or those whose family members suffer with those conditions.

The psychedelic substance

Mushrooms themselves are the fruiting bodies of fungi. The main part of the fungus’ ‘body’ is below ground, the mycelium. It’s a mat or web of tiny silky fibres that grows through soil or wood, digesting plant matter or working in partnership with living plants, passing them minerals and water in exchange for food.

As an adaptation to the risk of the mycelium drying out and dying before there is a chance to make mushrooms, some species of fungus create tough knots of mycelium underneath the ground, which are called sclerotia (or truffles!), that can survive harsh conditions. So, psilocybin containing truffles are simply psilocybin containing mushrooms that have created tough knots under ground.

Unlike psilocybin mushrooms, psilocybin truffles are not legally regulated in The Netherlands. We do not have an interest in working against the law, so this is why we do our retreats in the Netherlands, and with truffles instead of mushrooms. The active psychedelic component in both “magic” mushrooms and truffles is psilocybin, so in terms of the effect experienced they are very similar.
We vary the dosage to suit each participant’s need, but most commonly participants take approximately 30g of fresh truffles, which amounts to approximately 30 mg of psilocin. Magic truffles contain both psilocybin and psilocin, and psilocybin is converted by the body into psilocin. This is a high dose, but in our experience, the set and setting created on the retreats makes it a suitable dose even for participants new to the experience. We discuss this in more detail on the retreat, and check in with every participant individually to make sure we find the appropriate dose for them.
At the retreats we take the truffles as a tea with ginger, which enables a fast and easy absorption of psilocybin and helps reduce any potential nausea. If you have experience with eating truffles, you are welcome to also eat them, but for first timers we recommend the tea as it is less likely to upset the stomach.

Travel and accomodation

There are a few ways that you can get to the retreat venue. We offer a return transport option from Amsterdam Central Train station to the venue and back, so you can purchase this the same way you purchase your retreat ticket. If you require this mode of transport, please book it at least two weeks prior to the retreat. If you do not need a return ticket, you can also buy a one way ticket. Please let your lead facilitator know in advance of the retreat which way you will need the transport for.

You can also make your own way to the retreat centre by bus or train and/or taxi. Some participants even cycle! You will be sent the full address of the venue once you’ve purchased your ticket.
Standard accommodation is in rooms shared between 2 to 4 participants, separated into male and female rooms. There is a limited amount of private rooms available per retreat, which you can purchase at an additional overall cost of £200. If you are coming as a couple and want a private room, you only need to purchase one private room supplement per couple.
